On the 6th February 2020, we at UAVHUB received an email containing our Recognised Assessment Entity (RAE) Certificate, officially allowing us to start delivering GVC drone courses and A2 CofC drone courses.
What is an RAE?
An RAE is a Recognised Assessment Entity that is authorised by the CAA to deliver A2 CofC drone courses (so you can operate in the A2 subcategory of the open category) and the GVC drone courses (so you can operate in the specific category).
As of 31st December 2020, all NQEs (Nationally Qualified Entities) will have to transition over to being an RAE as they will no longer be able to deliver PfCO (Standard Permissions) drone courses.
We're proud to be the first NQE to officially become an RAE and now be delivering GVC drone courses and A2 CofC drone courses.
What is the GVC Drone Course?
The GVC drone course is the General Visual Line of Sight Certificate. This is the course that is primarily replacing the PfCO/Standard Permissions.

What is the A2 CofC Drone Course?
The A2 CofC Drone course is designed for people who want to fly C2 class drones (when they become available on the market). It will also allow you to fly 'legacy' drones up-to 2kg in the open category without a Standard Permissions or a GVC.

A quick history lesson about UAVHUB
UAVHUB started out in 2015 as Aerial Motion Pictures Ltd and was one of the UK's first independent Drone Training companies as to set up as an NQE. Our mission was to deliver the best drone course in the industry that was simple and efficient and thus was born the ICARUS course. Because Aerial Motion Pictures Ltd was renowned in the film industry for its capabilities as Heavy Lift Operators, the training division of the company became Fly ICARUS from 2016 - 2019. During this time we have trained close to 2000 drone operators.
In 2019, we decided to stop doing all commercial drone operations as we made the decision to not compete with our students and to focus all of our energies ensuring that our customers become successful operators. We will never compete wih our customers for work which we are training them to attain.
At the start of 2020, the trading name of the company became UAVHUB, with the strapline of 'connecting you to the heart of the drone industry'.
Through becoming a Hub, our mission has become to be the one-stop-shop for all of your drone needs, whether it is world-class training or hardware. Through partnerships with other companies including consultants, insurance companies and developers, we are fastly becoming the place to go for anything related to drones.
Becoming the first RAE in the UK was an incredible achievement that we are proud of and we now offer GVC drone courses and A2 CofC drone courses for 2020 and beyond.
