We're working very hard behind the scenes at Aerial Motion Pictures with our ICARUS course. One of the essential elements we are working on is our online course materials. After a great deal of research, we have determined that the quality of online courses for drone pilots is of an inferior standard and we are going to shake things up!
The first part of our online element is to release our Drone Night Rating Course online finally! Read on to find out more.
How does it work?
We've built our online course from scratch using best practices for online learning.
Each module is broken down into small chapters that are about 2-5 minutes long in general which means you can do the course wherever you are, and then if you've only got a few minutes to spare, you can jump straight back in.
At the end of each module, there is a small multiple choice questionnaire to make sure you have understood what you have been taught. If you don't get the answers correct, just got back, watch the films over and try again!
How much does it cost?
Our online Night Rating Course costs £199.99 inc. VAT. Our classroom taught Night Rating Course costs £399, and you get the same quality of teaching for half the price!
How long does it take to complete?
The online Night Rating course takes about 2 hours to complete from start to finish; however, you can dip in and out at any time, re-watch the chapters if you need to and you have up to 12 months to complete the course.
What happens when I complete the online course?
On completion of the course, the ICARUS team will be notified that you have completed the course. We will audit your completion of the course and email you your certification of recommendation for your Night Rating permissions which you can use as currency when either renewing your PfCO or making a variation.
Are you aware the costs have recently changed for applications and variations to the PfCO? Check out this blog to find out more.

Who teaches the course?
The course is taught by none other than Matt Williams himself, so you are to be sure of getting the best quality of teaching and industry knowledge from the man himself who wrote the ICARUS course.
Will you be releasing more online courses?
Yes! We are currently working on an entirely online PfCO course (apart from a few key modules and your Flight Test) that leads through to you getting your PfCO.
We don't have a date set for completion, but we have a scheduled time of late Spring/early Summer 2018 so keep an eye on https://training.flyicarus.co.uk for all our online courses.
